The Los Angeles County Food Policy and Smart Snackers campaign focus on three areas where snacks are available at the workplace: vending machines, meeting and events, and fundraisers.

Vending Machines
Healthier snacks are coming to County-contracted vending machines! The PLACE program is working with County-contracted vendors such as Bradberry, Canteen, First Class, Morrison, and North County to ensure that 25% of products in County-contracted vending machines meet the food policy’s nutrition guidelines.
These healthier machines have a Smart Snackers sticker posted above the selection pad, and an apple
sticker or red dot posted next to the healthier items.
Examples of healthier vending machine snacks and
beverages include:

Meeting and Events
Meetings and Around the Office
Say no to second hand sweets! Think twice about offering bowls of sweets and trays of treats at meetings and around the office. Make your workplace "a bowl full of cherries" instead of chocolates -- except for special occasions. While the food policy does not require you to serve healthy snacks at meetings or around the office (see below for exception) it is definitely a tasty way to keep your co-workers energized.
County-Sponsored Events
The food policy provides nutrition guidelines for food served at County-sponsored events. The only instance where the food served at your County-sponsored event must comply with the nutrition guidelines is when the food is purchased with County funds.
