Recall of One Lot of Hartz
Chicken-Basted Rawhide Chips - Salmonella Concerns
On October 20, 2008, The Hartz Mountain Corporation,
Secaucus, NJ voluntarily recalled one specific lot of
Hartz Chicken-Basted Rawhide Chips due to concerns that
one or more bags within the lot (lot code JC23282, UPC
number 3270096463) were potentially contaminated with
Salmonella (see U.S. FDA press release on link below).
Los Angeles County Environmental Health Division

food product recall as an informational campaign.

surveys which indicated that all recalled product was
previously removed from sale and store shelves.
Salmonella may cause illness in both people and dogs. If
a pet owner has purchased any of the recalled dog
treats, they should discard the food in a secured
container. Pet owners should contact their veterinarian
if their pet becomes ill.
