This map shows where rabid bats were identified this year. Red circles indicate bats that tested positive for rabies after being reported by the public to animal control. Rabies may still be present in areas without reported cases.

  is found indoors.

Rabid bats detected in 2026:

1. La Cañada Flintridge.  January.  Bat found alive on ground in a backyard near a dog.

2. Burbank.  February.  Bat found alive on a public sidewalk outside of a combined commercial and residential building.

3. Santa Clarita.  March.  Bat found alive on the backyard patio of a home.  A dog was possibly exposed.

4. Santa Clarita.  March.  Bat found dead on the driveway of a home.

5. Santa Clarita.  March.  Bat found alive on the ground in the backyard of a home.

6. Santa Clarita.  March.  Bat found dead in the backyard of a home.

7. Santa Clarita.  March.  Bat found alive floating in a swimming pool at a house.

8. Monrovia.  March.  Bat found alive on a public sidewalk outside of businesses.

9. Santa Clarita.  March.  Bat found dead by a wall in the backyard - 2 dogs may have been exposed.

10. Newhall (Santa Clarita).  March.  Bat found dead outside of a home by the dog door - 2 dogs may have been exposed. 

11. Santa Clarita. April. Bat found dead outdoors, on front walkway of a home.

12. Calabasas. April. Bat found outdoors, alive but sluggish, on floor near front door of a home.
