Prior to joining the Area Health Office, Ms. Mondy was the Nurse Manager for the Epidemiology and Infection Control Department at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Ms. Mondy has worked in Public Health as a District Public Health Nurse (PHN) and as a Program PHN, PHN Supervisor, and Program Specialist for the Acute Communicable Disease Control Program (ACDC).
During her tenure in ACDC, she was instrumental in writing a $24M CDC-funded grant for bioterrorism preparedness, specifically in the areas of epidemiology and surveillance. She formulated various public health nursing duty statements and was instrumental in obtaining funding for additional nursing positions. She wrote the Bioterrorism Liaison Public Health Nurse duty statement using the Los Angeles PHN Practice Model, which served as a guide for similar efforts in other public health programs.
Ms. Mondy has been recognized for her writing and presentation skills. She wrote the SARS section of the B-73 public health manual, bi-annual reports to CDC, health alerts and advisories, sections of countywide plans and manuals as well as a manuscript for Public Health Nursing Journal entitled "The Role of an Advanced Practice Public Health Nurse in Bioterrorism Preparedness". She has given multiple oral and poster presentations to professional organizations locally and nationally about bioterrorism, SARS, emerging infectious diseases, and Public Health. Ms. Mondy has received multiple awards including the 2004 Public Health Nurse of the Year.
Ms. Mondy also has experience in the academic setting as a Clinical Instructor and Part-time Lecturer for California State University. She graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Master of Science in Nursing and a Master in Public Health.
