The County of Los Angeles is divided into eight Service Planning Areas (SPA’s) for the purpose of delivering health care. The Los Angeles County Children's Planning Council designed the Service Planning Areas in 1992. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved the regional map on November 16, 1993, creating the eight Service Planning Areas.
The San Fernando Valley Service Planning Area, SPA 2, includes the cities and communities in the Foothill region, the San Fernando Valley, and the Santa Clarita Valley. SPA 2 is made up of four Health Districts:
