Ocean Water Use Warning for Los Angeles County Beaches

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health advises the public to avoid swimming, surfing, and playing in ocean waters at the following Los Angeles County beaches due to elevated bacteria levels that exceed state health standards:

BEACH AREA WARNINGS:

The warning applies to the following locations:

Manhattan Beach Pier in Manhattan Beach

100 yards up and down the coast from the pier.

Avenue I storm drain at Redondo Beach

100 yards up and down the coast from the storm drain.

Wilshire Boulevard storm drain at Santa Monica Beach. Santa Monica North Tower 12

100 yards up and down the coast from the storm drain.

East Wilshire Boulevard storm drain at Santa Monica Beach. Santa Monica North Tower 12

100 yards up and down the coast from the storm drain.

Mother’s Beach in Marina Del Rey

Entire swim area.

Torrance Beach at Malaga Cove. Just North of RAT Tower

100 yards up and down the coast from the lifeguard tower.

Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica

100 yards up and down the coast from the pier.

REASON FOR WARNING:

These warnings are issued because recent water samples showed bacterial levels exceeding health standards, which may increase the risk of illness.

BEACH AREAS NOW CLEARED:

Warnings have been lifted for the following beach area(s) where recent sample results identified water quality levels within State standards:

Redondo Beach Pier in Redondo Beach Pico-Kenter storm drain at Santa Monica Beach. Santa Monica South Tower 20
