SPA Boundaries
The West Service Planning Area (SPA 5) includes state owned land, portions of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, Coastline state beaches, marinas, and Los Angeles International Airport. Its western border is the Ventura County line. Its eastern boundary runs south along Laurel Canyon Boulevard, Doheny Drive, the eastern border of Culver City, La Cienega Boulevard through the western side of Baldwin Hills and Ladera Heights to Imperial Highway. The northern border follows a number of mountain roads beginning with Mulholland Highway on the west, through state parklands, up the western border of Topanga State Park, and along Mulholland State Beach to El Segundo, forms the Area's southern boundary.Communities

Organization
The Area Health Office of SPA 5 provides public health leadership in the SPA. A major goal of the office is to work in partnership with the community to ensure the optimal health and well being of the area residents. As part of a continuing effort to improve the quality of life for all residents, the staff of the SPA 5 Area Health Office inform the public about current health status of the SPA residents through developing and disseminating health-related statistics to the community. The staff prepares health assessment reports providing comprehensive assessments of the health of the SPA residents and information on many of the factors that influence health.

PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING
Public Health Nurses (PHNs) work in the community providing disease management, health education and resource coordination to individuals and families.

MEDICAL MANAGEMENT
Clinical services for TB and STD; directs communicable disease and outbreak investigations; and offers medical consultation to private sector physicians. Our STD Clinic operates once a week on Tuesdays. STD CLINIC Hours of Operation are Tuesdays 8-10:30 a.m. and 12-2:30 p.m.
EPIDEMIOLOGY
Collection, analysis and distribution of comprehensive health data and coordination of evaluation services.
HEALTH EDUCATION
Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of health education programs throughout the community.
PUBLIC HEALTH INVESTIGATION
Investigation and enforcement in the areas of communicable disease control, TB, STDs and conduct outreach programs.
PUBLIC HEALTH REGISTRAR
Issuance of birth and death certificates; assistance in reportable diseases. Outbreaks and unusual disease occurrence notification.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Monitoring compliance and enforcing regulations on food and water safety; housing and institutions; sewage and waste management.
