Mission Statement

Quiénes Somos

To protect and improve the health of all area residents.

ORGANIZATION

The San Fernando Valley Area Health Office, Service Planning Area 2, also called SPA 2, is one of the eight Area Health Offices created with the purpose of planning public health and clinical services according to the health needs of local communities.

The SPA 2 boundaries are as follows:

  • Westlake Village/Calabasas to the West
  • Glendale/La Cañada-Flintridge to the East
  • Santa Monica Mountains to the South
  • Castaic to the North

It encompasses the four Health Districts of West Valley, San Fernando, East Valley, and Glendale.

The San Fernando Valley Area Health Office provides public health leadership which includes:

PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING
Public Health Nurses (PHNs) work in the community providing disease management, health education and resource coordination to individuals and families.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Monitoring compliance and enforcing regulations on food and water safety; housing and institutions; sewage and waste management.

MEDICAL MANAGEMENT
Clinical services for TB and STD; directs communicable disease and outbreak investigations; and offers medical consultation to private sector physicians.

EPIDEMIOLOGY
Collection, analysis and distribution of comprehensive health data and coordination of evaluation services.

HEALTH EDUCATION
Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of health education programs throughout the community.

PUBLIC HEALTH INVESTIGATION
Investigation and enforcement in the areas of communicable disease control, TB, STDs and conduct outreach programs.

PUBLIC HEALTH REGISTRAR
Issuance of birth and death certificates; assistance in reportable diseases. Outbreaks and unusual disease occurrence notification.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT
Clinical records and health information management to support quality and performance improvement; outcome monitoring.

Proteger y mejorar la salud de todos los residentes del área

ORGANIZACION

La Oficina de Salud del Valle de San Fernando, Area de Planificación de Servicios 2, también llamada SPA 2, (su nombre en inglés, Service Planning Area 2), es una de las ocho Oficinas de Salud de área creadas con el próposito de planificar servicios de Salud Pública y clínicos de acuerdo con las necesidades de las communidades locales.

Los límites geográficos del SPA 2 son los siguientes:

· Westlake Village/Calabasas en el Oeste · Glendale/La Cañada-Flintridge en el Este · Las montañas de Santa Mónica en el Sur · Castaic en el Norte

Cuatro Distritos de Salud están ubicados dentro de los límites del SPA 2: West Valley, San Fernando, East Valley y Glendale.

La Oficina de Salud del Valle de San Fernando ofrece liderazgo en Salud Pública, incluyendo:

ENFERMERIA COMUNITARIA

Las enfermeras comunitarias o “Public Health Nurses (PHNs)”, como se les llama en inglés, trabajan en la comunidad en el control de enfermedades, educación para la salud, y coordinación de recursos para personas y familias.

SANIDAD AMBIENTAL

Monitoreo de acatamiento a las reglas y cumplimiento de regulaciones en el área de sanidad de alimentos, del agua, viviendas e instituciones; gerenciamiento de cloacas y desechos.

GESTION MEDICA

Servicios clínicos de Tuberculosis (TBS) y Enfermedades de Transmisión Sexual (ETS); dirección en investigaciones de brotes de enfermedades contagiosas; consultoría médica para médicos del sector privado.

EPIDEMIOLOGIA

Compilación, análisis, y distribución de datos de salud; coordinación de evaluación de servicios.

EDUCACION PARA LA SALUD

Diagnóstico de comunidad , planificación, puesta en práctica y evaluación de programas de Educación para la Salud en toda la comunidad.

INVESTIGACION EN SALUD PUBLICA

Investigación y contralor de acatamiento en las áreas de control de enfemedades contagiosas, Tuberculosis (TBS), Enfermedades de Transmisión Sexual (ETS), y conducción de programas especiales de alcance comunitarios.

REGISTRO DE SALUD PUBLICA

Emisión de certificados de nacimiento y de defunción; asistencia con notificación de enfermedades de denuncia, brotes de enfermedades contagiosas, y casos de enfermedades no communes o extraordinarias.

GESTION DE CALIDAD

Gerenciamiento de historias clínicas y de información de salud para asisitir en procesos de mejoras en la calidad y el funcionamiento de los servicios; monitoreo de resultados.
