Welcome!
The
Network for a Healthy
California-Los
Angeles Region is funded through a grant from the USDA
Food Stamp Program. The Regional Network works to help
create an environment to help low-income county
residents eat healthy and get regular physical activity.
Designed to cross over traditional political, geographic
and organizational boundaries, the Network for a Healthy
California-Los
Angeles Region conducts activities in three major areas:
-
Maximize Local Impact -- The Network for a Healthy
California provides training, coordination and
communications support to all Network-funded projects
and other stakeholders in the region.
-
Mobilize Community Action –
The Los Angeles
Collaborative for Healthy Active Children –
individuals, organizations, advocates, community
leaders, businesses and others with expertise in
nutrition, physical activity, hunger prevention/food
security, and under-served communities brings together
hundreds of people and organizations, including Local
Incentive Awardees, Special Projects, and Campaigns,
who belong to the Collaborative! The Network for a
Healthy California-Los Angeles Region provides
administrative support to the Los Angeles
Collaborative and facilitates nutrition education
initiatives that make it easier for low-income county
residents to adopt healthy eating and physical
activity lifestyles in their communities.
-
Outreach with target population centered Campaigns and
Programs -- The Regional Network implements regional
Campaigns
and Programs that target special populations. These
include the African American Campaign, the Latino
Campaign, the Power Play Campaign, the Worksite
Program, and the Retail Campaign. For more
information on each of these campaigns and programs
please refer to the menu bar on the left hand side of
this page.
Ultimately the foundation of our network is the people
that we serve every day. We help them become their own
champions for change to live healthier more
fulfilling lives. The four primary messages that we
deliver are:
1.
Increase fruit and vegetable consumption
2.
Increase physical activity levels
3.
Increase food security
4.
Increase chronic disease prevention
