Fingerstick Initiative Training
CDC studies have found that properly obtained Fingerstick samples can give comparable results to venous samples (the golden standard), but only when the recommended CDC procedures are initiated. To increase the capacity to perform blood lead testing, the State Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Branch and Children’s Medical Services Branch (CMS) is encouraging onsite blood collection using the point-of-care device for blood-lead testing (Lead Care II). Information on the Lead Care II device, CHDP reimbursement and billing instructions (CHDP Program Letter No: 07-03) is available.
