Every year drowning claims the lives of people of all ages throughout Los Angeles County. Most drownings happen because of:

*Lack of adult "active" supervision
*Lack of four-sided fencing around pools/spas/jacuzzi
*Lack of self-closing/self-latching gates
*Use of alcohol or drugs
*Swimming alone
*Diving into water
*Infants and toddlers near water

In every case, drowning is 100% preventable. The pages to the right will help you lower your drowning risk and prevent a drowning at a pool, beach, lake, or while boating.
