Boating Safety

Most boating mishaps are caused by the driver of the boat rather than equipment problems, weather, or the environment.
The following are safety tips to help prevent boating injuries. For additional information on boating operation safety, see the links below.   (Download a Fact Sheet)

  1. Wear a life jacket- it's your life, preserve it!

  2. Take a Safe Boating Class in your area- it can save your life!

  3. Keep your boat maintained.

  4. Keep aboard your boat: A ship-to-shore radio, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, lifejackets, etc.

  5. Do not drink or use drugs while operating your boat.

Remember: Ducks Float - You don't! So wear your lifejacket!
