The Operational Readiness Unit is responsible for:
- The maintaining the DPH Department Operations Center (DOC)
- Maintaining the DPH All-Hazards Emergency Management Plan and ensuring compliance with guidelines established by the County Office of Emergency Management (OEM)
- Providing leadership and coordination of the department-wide Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) and county-wide Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
- Developing and ensuring DPH emergency communication standards
- Providing technical support to exercise planning activities
- Tracking After-Action Report recommendations and incorporation of corrective actions in appropriate plans
- Establishing an Integrated Emergency Management System (IEMS) focusing on prevention, preparedness, response and recovery activities
- Ensuring response operations are in compliance with the standards set forth by the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS) and by the Incident Command System (ICS)
- Developing departmental polices and procedures supporting the IEMS operation; and serving as the department linkage to the CAO’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM), to the Disaster Management Area Coordinators (DMACs), local health departments, and public/private partners and Community-Based-Organizations.
