What We Do

We inspect tobacco retail facilities in the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. The District Surveillance and Enforcement Program conducts the inspections. The inspection program is designed to ensure that all permitted tobacco retailers adhere to the following guidelines:

Note: We do not distribute provisional permits and do not accept TRL applications in the field.

We inspect tobacco retail facilities in unincorporated Los Angeles County. Tobacco retail facilities located in the cities of Pasadena, Long Beach, and Vernon have separate environmental health departments.

Frequently Asked Questions - County of Los Angeles Tobacco Ordinance

On September 24, 2019 the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors approved an ordinance that created restrictions on retail sales of tobacco products and requiring a new Business License for facilities located in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. Complaints about tobacco retail facilities can be filed by calling Public Health at (888) 700-9995 or File a Complaint Online. We will not ask you about your immigration status and you can file a complaint anonymously. TCPP can only address violations in Los Angeles County. For all violations outside of the county, contact the local health department for more information.
