Summer Food Service Programs
Summer Food Service Program inspections are coordinated in partnership with the California Department of Education.
Types of Summer Food Services Sites
Vended Feeding Sites - receive food from a central kitchen or other permitted food facility. No food may be stored onsite overnight. Vended feeding sites must provide a copy of the Vended Meal Agreement.
Self-Preparation (self-prep) Sites - prepares their own meals at the food service location. Self-prep sites must provide a valid public health permit.
Central Kitchen - a kitchen that prepares and delivers meals for one or more vended feeding sites. Central kitchens are required to have a Public Health Permit.
If you wish to prepare food as a summer food service provider, please obtain Public Health Permit by contacting our Plan Check Program at (626) 430-5560. Upon obtaining a Public Health Permit, register as a Summer Food Service Program sponsor organization by following the instructions provided at California Department of Education, Summer Meal Programs.
